
Marie Elisa Scheidt is a documentary filmmaker, currently based in Munich. She was born in Dresden, Germany on May 13, 1987. Elisa started her first vhs and polaroid experiments at an early age and got insight into several film production companies in Beijing, Munich and Berlin where she gained experience in research, project development, street casting, cinematography and editing. Furthermore, she supported the Environmental Education Media Project for China, Fair Observer and Médecins Sans Frontières, directed several short documentaries for Dropping Knowledge Berlin and worked as a film critic at the Venice International Film Festival. Since 2008 Elisa has been studying documentary film at the University of Television and Film Munich and at the School of Image Arts Toronto (Ryerson University). She is also an alumna of the Berlinale Talent Campus and Talent Camp Odense. Her short films have been screened and awarded at numerous major film festivals around the world. They frequently explore the borderland between documentary and fiction and deal with themes like memory, social image, intimacy and the construction of identity.
